In the UK it is unlawful for a person under sixteen to ride passenger on a moped scooter?

In Italy, I saw people taking their children to school motorcycles / mopeds. (Vespa, etc.) the better for the environment, and more fun. But I think it's probably illegal in the UK, right?

A license provisional, complete a motorcycle or a car license is needed to drive mopeds. Other compulsory basic training certificate is also necessary to drive a moped on public roads, except those obtained your full car driving license or motorcycle license before 1 February 2001. A provisional license moped can be obtained at the age of 16, while standard car and motorcycle licenses are available only at the age of 17 years. Provisional licenses require learner plates and will expire after two years if the licensee has not updated its license. Mopeds are subject to all traffic from other vehicles. All the cycles and motor cycles / mopeds under 50 cc are excluded from the use of motorways in the UK.

In the fashion capitols of the world, the Vespa motorscooter is a necessary lifestyle accessory. And those who are not Vespa owners are Vespa admirers. From the classic romance of Roman Holiday to the defiant non-conformity of the Mod and Punk scenes, and today's hipsters, the Vespa has become an icon of adventure, style, and coolness. Like so much Italian design, the Vespa's form is sensual and sleek, and even after 60 years, its retro lines continue to seduce and excite. This eco-friendly darling of fashionistas and celebrities (Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert DeNiro, and Lenny Kravitz all have one) is the perfect antidote to city congestion, and makes getting to your next gallery opening, movie premier, or market, fast and fun.Vespa is a celebration of the scooter's history. Containing over 200 images, the book covers the technical evolution of the Vespa-first built in 1946 by the aircraft manufacturer Piaggio-through 138 successive models and versions (including the short-lived Vespa car). The book is also a look at the iconic vehicle's significant role in society and its impact on popular culture through today. Vintage advertising, copiously reproduced throughout this treasure trove of all things Vespa, embodies the uniqely European aesthetic and Italian vitality that is at once exotic and familiar to everyone.

In the 60 years since it zipped onto the scene, the Vespa scooter has become an icon of Italian culture, as recognizable as the Coliseum, pizza margherita and Pavarotti. It has been immortalized in La Dolce Vita and Roman Holiday and crooned about on the radio: Lunapop's 1999 paean to the 50 Special translates School's not going well, and I don't have a girl / but I've got my Vespa. On My Vespa: Italy on the Move is likewise a hymn to the sleek and stylish wasp-like vehicle that buzzes along nearly every street in Italy and is for sale all over the globe, from Venezuela to Senegal. It features essays on the history of Vespa production and on the company's vibrant advertisement campaigns, as well as a complete filmography of the scooter and countless photographs of riders on their own treasured models, including John Wayne, Gary Cooper and Jean-Paul Belmondo. Despite the great changes in global transportation since the Vespa was first designed by aeronautical engineer Corradino D'Ascanio in 1946, the iconic scooter remains as popular as ever and remains one of the most recognized and beloved objects in the history of Italian design.
